June 20, 2023 was a very special day. It was when about 73 high schoolers who got off the plane at Ben Gurion airport to start their summer with Muss moved into the Muss South campus in Be’er Sheva, the newest addition to the Alexander Muss High School in Israel family! This brand-new, state-of-the-art campus located about a 10-minute walk from the Be’er Sheva River Park, is the first step towards opening the World Zionist Village, Jewish National Fund-USA’s vision to transform Israel’s south into a newfound hub of innovation and industry and begin a new conversation on unity, destiny and the future of the Jewish People.
In addition to the new dorms, dining hall, common room (moadon) and outdoor seating area (chatzer), Muss South houses a fully equipped gym and basketball court, where students can keep fit and active on campus, sparkling classrooms, and art and music facilities available for all our teens. Our world-class staff and faculty, including two social workers, are available to all our students, with two nurses and a dedicated campus coordinator on site for any eventuality. The students had a fantastic summer and in addition to the transformative Muss experience, enjoyed the tranquil calm of Israel’s fastest-growing community in the South, while immersing themselves amongst its diverse population.
Said one student: “It felt really special to be on the Be’er Sheva campus! My favorite part was the outdoor sitting area, near the dorms. I got to hang out with friends, and when I got up in the early mornings it was a really calming spot.”
